Portland-based indie rock band The Shins formed in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1996. In 2001 they released their single "New Slang" on Subpop, which went on to be featured in the film Garden State, along with "Caring is Creeepy," another song off their 2002 album Oh Inverted World.Their fourth album, Port of Morrow, will be released in March of 2012 on frontman James Mercer's own label, Aural Apothecary.
